About PATS

There is no clinician-patient hierarchy here, no monotone responses, or robotic feeling interactions. PATS is focused on leading by example; more-so we "practice what we preach" and are constantly looking for ways to better our clinical practices for you.

We are transparent, authentic, and human. â€‹

We are an LGBTQIA+ affirming office and strive to embody the essence that all truly are welcome here. Show up as you are- we're happy to meet you there.

Our focus is on building healthy, compassionate, judgement-free therapy spaces for teens and adults, where you can explore yourself safely in collaboration with your therapist. Therapy is a conjoint effort where you are in the driver's seat and your therapist is a copilot to your journey: able to provide options of places to pause and rest; possible routes, directions, steps and turns that may get you closer to your destination goals.

We'll be respectful of your choices, but if there's some safety concerns coming up we'll definitely chat about them in a compassionate way with you. Your safety and well-being is our priority.

Our goal is to provide support for your journey to well-being in a way that is tailored for you. We don't believe in a "one-size-fits-all" approach. You're not alone in this- let's work jointly to figure out your goals and how we can get there together.

Our Primary Therapy Techniques

Client-centered

The client takes the lead in the sessions. As the client is the expert in her/his own life, the Art Therapist will follow the client, with compassion, understanding and support.

Feministic

A way of highlighting societal injustice, gender inequity, and the needs of women and other marginalized populations. Together we will work on regaining power, feeling heard, being seen and what it means to take up space.

Relational

The idea that we are shaped by our social world and relationships, and that having good relationships is essential for our wellbeing and self-esteem. Explores how past experiences shape us and our patterns of relating to others. It aims to equip individuals with new and more helpful ways of interacting in the present.

trauma-informed

This approach looks at all of the pieces of the human, not just the symptoms; As humans we are complex. With the Art Therapist you will create art to help understand and heal the internalized messages, old patterns, safely address trauma and foster emotional regulation.
